Hi, did you take this photograph yourself? I'm asking so I can confirm the copyright status — Zeimusu | Talk 02:02, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, I did! Julius.kusuma
- Hi from Germany, would you be willing to specifically release your picture under the GNU FDL or as Public Domain? In that way, it could be included with the German edition of the Wikipedia. The rules for licensing of pictures are more strict there. For example, there is no "fair use" clause. All pictures which don't have a definitive source and a free license are not allowed (the preferred license is the GNU FDL). I would be happy about a positive decision. You can also contact me via my personal discussion page at the German Wikipedia at http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer_Diskussion:UW. Sincerely Yours, Uwe from the German Wikipedia
- Sure, I'm happy to contribute under the stricter license. Enjoy! Julius.kusuma 17:21, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Hi Julius, thank you very much for your positive decision. I think it would be best to edit the Image page of the picture at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Musee_croixrouge.JPG and add a comment which clearly states that you, as the original creator of the picture, release it under the GNU FDL. In addition to that, it would be good to add your real name or Wikipedia username and the date when you took the picture. Right now, there is a message on the image page which says that there is no information available about the source or the license of the picture. For the US edition of the Wikipedia there is the "fair use" rule which keeps the picture from being deleted under such situation. But as there is no "fair use" clause in Germany, pictures which do not have unambiguous information about their source and license are promptly deleted in a timely manner. As I would be happy to include the picture with "my" German article about the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement, I kindly ask you to add these information to the image page in the English Wikipedia, which would then serve as a reference. Sincerely Yours, Uwe from the German Wikipedia
- Sure, I'm happy to contribute under the stricter license. Enjoy! Julius.kusuma 17:21, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
-
-
- PS: I left a comment on the discussion page of the English Wikipedia article about the International Committee of the Red Cross, asking for a small but important correction. Could you kindly check whether you could make the necessary changes? I abstain from doing it myself as English is not my native language.
-
-
-
- PPS: Do you have other Red-Cross-related pictures available, for example the headquarter of the ICRC from a different angle, or a picture of the headquarter of the International Federation, or any other interesting pictures about the Red Cross/ Red Crescent?
-
-
-
- Uwe, I've added the creator info as you requested. I probably do have a few more photos of the museum itself or the contents therein in my collection, but it will take me a few days to find them. Will contact you when I find them. Enjoy. Julius.kusuma 20:20, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

- Thanks for releasing the picture under the GNU FDL. I've included it with my German article about the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement (a single article about both the ICRC and the Int. Federation). Though I use it as an illustration of the ICRC headquarter :). Take care & good by(t)e, Uwe from the German Wikipedia

[edit] Soeharto Additions
Thanks for putting the additions on the Soeharto entry, on electoral "reforms." A quick question on the other addition you made though - can you say which scholars have documented the "red/white"/"green" split in the Indonesian military?--Daniel 23:47, Jun 19, 2005 (UTC)
- There are many references in Indonesian, but I can't find any in English. I hesitated citing documents not in English since it's not very useful for an English-language dictionary. Here are a few examples:
- A google search netted a review of the following book: Stefan Eklof, Indonesian Politics in Crisis: The Long Fall of Suharto,1996–98. Copenhagen: Nordic Institute of Asian Studies, 1999. However, I have not personally read it, so I don't know whether it's appropriate to put up a citation to a source which I have not even read myself. If you have suggestions, I'm all ears. I actually put up the information in hopes that somebody else would furnish the references (in English) for it. Julius.kusuma

- Thanks. I was really wondering more for personal curiosity, though I'll check those out in the library.--Daniel 03:10, Jun 20, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Improving Indonesia-related articles
After thinking about it for a while, I've posted an appeal for a discussion on how best to improve Indonesia-related subs in Talk:Suharto. If you could read it, and give me any feedback (and any assistance going forward) I would greatly appreciate it. --Daniel June 28, 2005 07:13 (UTC)

[edit] Armstrong affair
Hello, can you give the link to the l'Equipe article mentioning Olano, Moreau, and Armstrong in the latest doping affair, please? I looked around http://www.lequipe.fr/Cyclisme/index.html just now, but can't find it. Thanks. Julius.kusuma 18:17, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

- Here it is (titled Pourquoi se focaliser sur le seul Armstrong). 82.224.88.52 19:19, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

- Thanks for the information. I was actually hoping to read the reference to Moreau and Olano, because that's the part that hasn't been mentioned in English news sources. Merci bien! Julius.kusuma 21:03, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sources for Laurent Fignon
Hello, sometime ago you added a fair bit of content to Laurent Fignon. As you may know we are currently trying to improve Wikipedia's accuracy and reliability by making sure articles cite the sources used to created them. Do you remember what websites, books, or other places you learnt the information that you added to Laurent Fignon? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? Thank you very much. - SimonP 15:14, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
- Hi SimonP, most of the content are from various cycling magazines. I'll have to dig through them again at some point. The Cyfac reference is from the Cyfac website, which I added to the Reference section. Julius.kusuma 19:19, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Prox Cross Bike redwhite.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Prox Cross Bike redwhite.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 17:56, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I don't get it: isn't using GFDL-self sufficient information that I am uploading the image of behalf of the person who made that image? Julius.kusuma 19:10, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- No, because some people think "making" an image means downloading it from another's website and uploading it to Wikipedia and they use the GFDL-self tag in this case. Supporting summary information is needed. See Image:Williamson courthouse 2006.jpg for a recommended example of a summary. You don't have to include all the information shown, but the more the better. -Nv8200p talk 19:42, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- If the photo was made by Velo Europa, Inc., it is not right to release under GFDL-self. You can release under GFDL tag with documentation from the copyright holder giving consent. This consent should be posted on the image's discussion page. See Image:Zebra finch.jpg for an example. -Nv8200p talk 19:54, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

- Free does not mean you can release under GFDL. Please have the copyright holder explain what he wants to do. Does he mean the images are released into the public domain or that he retains copyright, but they are free to use for any purpose or he wishhes to release under a free license like GFDL or Creative Commons. These distinctions are important. Post the correspondence on the image talk page -Thanks Nv8200p talk 17:32, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Cyclist itt cyfac.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Cyclist itt cyfac.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Replaceable fair use Image:SDVprodir_murcia.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:SDVprodir_murcia.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. Thanks for uploading Image:Cunego saeco promo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:47, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:David millar and plasma.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:David millar and plasma.jpg.
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:09, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Cipollini LGB promo.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Cipollini LGB promo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. [edit] Cyfac
Another editor has added the {{prod}}
template to the article Cyfac, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}}
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 02:59, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sparse approximation
Hello. I've added Sparse approximation to the list of NP-complete problems. Since only that and the list of mathematics articles link to it, I've added an "orphan" tag. If you know of other articles that should link to it, could you edit those article to add the links? Michael Hardy (talk) 15:15, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
