[edit] Copyright

Hi, I know you are brand new here, and I'll try not to bite, but some of the first things you've done here look like they may raise copyright issues.

Wikipedia can't take materials that are under copyright and that the owner hasn't granted us the right to use. Hempfest's web site, for example, is copyrighted material. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they would be willing to give us permission to use their version of their history, but I see no indication that you got that permission.

Similarly, I notice that on the picture you uploaded for the Bumbershoot article, you didn't tag it to indicate anything about who owns the rights to it. Is it a photo you took? If so, great, indicate that. If not, do you have the copyright-owner's permission to use it? You might want to take a look at Wikipedia:Image use policy and especially at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags: when adding an image, you should always use one of these.

I hope I've been more of a help than a scold: there is no point to your doing work that someone else will just undo later. -- Jmabel | Talk July 7, 2005 01:19 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Bumbershoot grounds.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Bumbershoot grounds.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Arniep 19:05, 8 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image source/licensing for Image:Bumbershoot grounds.jpg

The image you uploaded, Image:Bumbershoot grounds.jpg, has no source information. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. Unless the copyright status is provided, the image will be marked for deletion on 24 October 2005.

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:0060930187.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:0060930187.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:36, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
