Julian Wortelboer (born June 10th, 1987 in Anniston, Alabama), grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina playing tennis at the Belgrano Athletic Club, where he was one of the best doubles junior players with his partner Mariano Rossi. In 1986 he won the Father-Son national title beating his nemesis and best friend Diego Escribano. Julian started playing college tennis; in 1987 at the University of Indian River in Fort Pierce, Florida and finished his college tennis career at the University Massachusetts with a record of 57 wins and 3 loses in singles and 84 wins and 4 loses in doubles, Julian was one of the most important tennis players in the history of University of Massachusetts. Julian in 1995 the graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geology-Geography. He was the MVP (Most Valuable Player) 1987,1988 (Indian River), 1994, 1995 (University of Massachusetts). In 1992 he moved to Salzburg, Austria to play interclub competition, he was there for a year not only playing interclub but also playing money and ATP tournaments. In April 1996 he became the director of tennis at the JCC in Newton, Massachusetts, but his work at the JCC was cut short by a car accident in May 6th 1996. The doctors told him that he will be not be able to walk for three years. Julian spend almost a year is a wheelchair recovering from his accident, but thanks to his willpower he was back on his feet and walking in less than a year, Julian then got an offer to work for ICM (International Communication for Management) in Sydney, Australia, where he eventually moved and spend a year working for the company. Office work wasn’t for him!!!, so in 1997 he got an offer to come back to USA and work during the winter season with his friend Alex Ringwald at the Palm Beach Polo Club as a Assitant Tennis Pro. After the season was over the got an offer to move to Zimbabwe, Africa and help organized a tennis academy in Harare the capital of Zimbabwe. In 1998 the got an offer to become part of the tennis team at the Ocean Club in Key Biscayne, Florida where he became and still is the Director of Tennis. He is a member of the USPTA and the USPTR. He is married to Victoria Navarrete from Malaga, Spain and has twin boys (Ian and Marco).
