[edit] "Controversial Statements"
If the transcript of his speech shows he never said that, then the blog either lied or was misinformed. I feel as though the heading "Controversial Statements" is inappropriate. If he never said it, it should be "Misattributed Comments" or something, and the section should more forcibily note that he didn't say it, if he didn't.--ZachPruckowski 17:04, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Not only was that last edit taken from a site called OpinionJournal.com, it also contained quotes that were directly refuted by the article listed above it that showed what he actually said.--68.32.66.99 05:42, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
was Julian Bond serious about lightskinned and dark skinnes blacks?
- Definitely not. It was a skit on a comedy show. (Note also that Julian Bond is light-skinned, Garrett Morris darker-skinned.) Patrickbowman 10:31, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
I have gutted the "Misattributed Comments" section because it contains numerous demonstrably false statements. The Fayetteville Observer newspaper does in fact have an audio recording of Bond's controversial statements. Bond appears to have lied about likening the Republicans to Nazis; either that, or he was engaging in semantic hairsplitting. In any event, saying he lied would probably be too strong a statement for a Wikipedia entry so I simply stuck closely to the facts. I have also taken "Misattributed" from the section title because it is now apparent that that is both factually incorrect and an NPOV violation now that I have myself personally listened to the audio recording that the newspaper now makes available on its website and that all are now able to listen to themselves.
