Julius Tandler

Julius Tandler (b. February 16, 1869 in Jihlava, Moravia; d. August 25, 1936 in Moscow), physician and social democratic politician in Vienna, Austria, figured as a leading personality of Red Vienna.

His anatomical research secured him a lasting entry into the history of anatomy. Very important he has been in his drive to extend social services of the Vienna municipality. On the other hand he was a vehement voice for euthanasia and has proposed the sterilisation or extermination of "unworthy life" (unwertes Leben).
