Julie Iny

Julie Iny is an American Cornerstone Award-winning [1] activist and author of The Flying Camel: Essays on Identity by Women of North African and Middle Eastern Jewish Heritage, she is committed to ending oppression, racism, and antisemitism, and the leader at the organization Oakland Kids First. She was born to an Ashkenazi mother and Mizrachi father, who originated from Basra, Iraq.[2]

Julie opposes the war in Iraq and has demonstrated so with banner reading, "Iraqi lives are precious". She also commented, that the war is "really inflicting terror on people who were already suffering".[3]

She currently resides in Oakland.
