[edit] Character History

A strong woman, a lawyer and a businesswoman named Julia Wainwright arrived in Santa Barbara in May of 1985[1], to help out her sister Augusta Lockridge who was blinded by an accident in a tunnel. Julia soon falls in love with Jack Lee, a man that later turns out to be Jerry Cooper, his look-alike cousin[2]. Julia then found yet another disappointment in love by dating David Laurent, a man who was accused of murdering his wife Madeline. Realizing that she doesn't have luck with men, Julia decided to stay single and concentrate on her career and on her goal to have a baby.

Julia then asks Mason Capwell to help her make a baby under a contract. Mason accepts the idea although he was, at the time, involved with Tori Lane[3]. Julia and Mason soon fall in love, and the strong bond between them ends up causing Mason and Tori to divorce. Julia gave birth to their daughter Samantha later[4], and the couple was finally ready to be happy together[5].

However, things changed when Mason was accused of murdering Mark McCormick, whos bones were found at the Capwell boat place. Mason then disappeared, but Julia was able to eventually find him. Mason, who was left for dead, later had a personality disorder, believing to be Sonny, an entertainer from Las Vegas. Gina DeMott used Mason's so-called "change" to convince him to get the Capwell fortune by pretending to be Mason. Julia realized that "Mason" and Gina were together and she left him, and then found comfort in the arms of Michael Donnelly.[6]

At Mason and Gina's wedding, Mason was shot and he got his memory back[7]. Mason was then able to explain to Julia what happened, and the couple reunited. Their reunion was challenged when the body of Sasha Schmidt was found. Julia and Mason hid the body and eventually found out that Laura Asher killed her. As time passed by, Mason wasn't able to deal with the problems in his life and he started drinking, and Julia decided to leave him for her own good, and the good of their daughter. Julia found comfort in Dash Nichols, who then tried to force himself on her. Julia prosecuted him for rape and although it seemed like she won't be able to prove her point, she had to take drastic measures to let Dash realize what he had done.

Mason and Julia reunited again, and ended up getting married again[8]. They moved into the Ballymoor mansion, a place that gave intrigue and mystery a new meaning when Samantha ended up with a huge illness, but was eventually cured by Micah DeAngelis. When things went back to normal, Julia and Mason wanted to have another child together. They considered adopting the yet-unborn child of Gracie Lee Lively, a girl whom they gave shelter, but before they could make a decision, Julia learned that she was pregnant.[9]
