Julia Bacha most recently co-directed, wrote and edited the award-winning feature documentary Encounter Point. Encounter Point was the official selection at Tribeca, Hot Docs, Jerusalem, Vancouver and San Francisco International Film Festivals, where it won the Audience Award for Best Documentary. Julia was also the co-writer and editor of the critically acclaimed documentary, Control Room, about Al Jazeera, for which she was nominated to the 2005 Writer’s Guild of America Award. Control Room was the Official Selection at the Sundance and Berlin film festivals in 2004, and the winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Full Frame Film Festival the same year. Julia has participated in numerous panels such as the New York Time's "War Documentaries” and the United Nation's panel on Al Jazeera International.
Julia was awarded the 2003 Phi Beta Kappa prize upon graduating from Columbia University, where she studied Middle Eastern history and politics.
