This is the very beginning of the Judith Skillman entry. Significance, refs, categories, will follow.

I wouldn't consider Judith's writing of the "Deep Image" school. A comparison of her writing with Bly's, Wright's, etc. illuminates the point. In real "Deep Image," the image stands pretty much on its own, often eerily numinous and threatening to disrupt the continuity of the poem. Not so in Judith's verse. The metaphors are integrated into the text in a subtle fashion.

Glad to see the new regional definition applied to Judith's work. This is much more accurate, I believe.
