[edit] Notability

As this is a candidate in a forthcoming election, there is notability to a certain extent. As creator of the page but a bit of a newbie I've stayed out of the debate on deletion - the stub will be expanded over time. LNWWatcher (talk) 15:28, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

The relevant policy is Wikipedia:Notability_(people)#Politicians, which saysJust being an elected local official, or an unelected candidate for political office, does not guarantee notability, although such people can still be notable if they meet the primary notability criterion of "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.". See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mike Roberts (politician), for example. The way to save the article from potential deletion would be to provide the kind of sources mentioned in that quote. Which I see someone has now done. I'm not sure either is "significant coverage", but will leave it for others to discuss now. PamD (talk) 16:41, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Why the flurry of activity?

An explanation for the sudden rush of activity is at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#.22Unrealiable_prodders.22, for anyone puzzled! (I put a PROD tag on the article, this was removed as part of a larger campaign apparently being waged by one editor against another, and it went on from there.) PamD (talk) 16:50, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
