I recommend merging together into the "Messer Leon" article. Unless by astonishing coincidence, I think it's the same person. I think "Messer Leon" is the more common appellation.

[edit] Maimonides

Did he really cite Rambam, who was his (controversial) younger contemporary? I suspect that Maimonides made this list in error, as the list until now included R. Joseph Karo (!). —חנינא —Preceding comment was added at 02:38, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

The list comes straight from the public-domain 1906 JE article, [1]
Note that the JE says Joseph Kara (1065-1135), not Joseph Karo (1488-1575). -- Jheald 09:56, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
