Judith Pronk (born Judith Anna Pronk, 8 December 1973, Amsterdam, The Netherlands) is a female singer/DJ who is currently a make-up artist.
[edit] Profile
Pronk began displaying her talents at the age of six when she took up ballet but, by age 18, she became involved with the Dutch club scene, where she added vocalist and DJ duties to her resume.
She hooked up with DJ Jurgen and the team of Danski & Delmondo from the Vengaboys to transform the vision of Alice Deejay into reality, resulting in the international club smash, "Better Off Alone". The eurotrance tune was a big hit across Europe, especially in the United Kingdom where it reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart. This would also be where she would achieve her biggest successes as four more tracks followed, all from the album, Who Needs Guitars Anyway?: "Back In My Life" (#4), "Will I Ever" (#7), "The Lonely One" (#16) and "Celebrate Our Love" (#17).
Pronk (as part of Alice Deejay) was also successful in the United States, where "Better Off Alone" reached number 3 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play, number 12 on the Rhythmic Top 40, and number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts respectively in the spring of 2000. Although "Better Off Alone" and her album Who Needs Guitars Anyway did well Stateside, they would be relegated to the rank of one-hit wonders, even though "Back In My Life" (her follow-up) also charted the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, peaking at #27 in the fall of 2000.
In 2002, the act made their final appearance together in a live concert in the city of Utrecht.
After the group went their separate ways, Pronk decided to move on to other ventures by putting her music career aside for a while to become a make-up artist and beauty/fashion consultant. Recent news shows the producers of Alice Deejay and the Vengaboys have started work on new albums for them.
