Middle Juba (Somali: Jubbada Dhexe) is an administrative region (gobolka) in southern Somalia in the historical region of Jubaland. Its capital is Bu'aale. It is bordered by Somalian regions of Gedo, Bay, Lower Shabele and Lower Juba and the Indian Ocean.

Note that the map displayed here is not correct. This is so because the region borders Kenya, running between Gedo and Lower Juba region. The district of Bu'ale borders Kenya. Despite its small size and population, Middle Juba is one of the most prosperous regions of Somalia: the land is fertile and good for farming, and the Juba River has all year running water, benefiting both livestock and farms.

Middle Jubba region was one of the least populated regions in Somalia until the drought of 1974 hit northern Somalia; after the drought, which affected northern and central parts of Somalia, large numbers of families, having lost all of their livestock, were resettled by the central government in Middle Juba, in places like Dajuma, Bu'ale, Sakow and Jilib. Eventually they became farmers and thrived. Much of late 1990s until 2006, Jubba Valley Alliance or JVA controlled both Jubba Regions.

The region is named after the Jubba River that passes through this region.

Middle Juba consists of three districts:

  • Bu'aale (capital)
  • Jilib (Gilib)
  • Sakow
  • Dujuma

Jillib is the most populous city and had well-developed infrastructures before the civil war destroyed them. The Marerey factory was the biggest factory in Somalia; it used to produce many products, including sugar, chemicals, rubber, and peroxides.
