Juanita Bynum (born January 16, 1959) is a Pentecostal televangelist, author, actress and gospel singer.
[edit] Early life
Juanita Bynum was born in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas and Katherine Bynum. Throughout her childhood, she attended weekly services with her family at their home church, St. Luke Church of God in Christ.[citation needed] Bynum attended Saints Academy Church of God in Christ High School in Lexington, Mississippi. The Bynum family also lived in Miami, Florida for a two-year period from 1978-1980, and in New York City from 1985-1992.
[edit] Preaching
Although Bynum had been preaching since her teenage years, it was not until the 1990s that she became internationally known.[citation needed] Bishop T.D. Jakes invited Bynum to attend one of his singles conferences in 1996, where she rose from attendee to speaker in two years.[citation needed]
