[edit] Career

Juande made his debut for Real Betis against Anderlecht in the UEFA Champions League on December 6, 2005, before being replaced by Marcos Assunção in the 71st minute. Betis lost the match 1-0 to a Vincent Kompany first half goal. Juande wore shirt number 31. Although having played no part for Real Betis in the early stages of the 2006/2007 season he made several appearances after the new year, including games against Recreativo de Huelva and Real Madrid. On 5th November 2007, it was speculated that English Premiership giant Liverpool F.C. would make a €8 million purchase of the young Spaniard, replacing Mohamed Sissoko. This deal never materialised. Juande scored his first goal for Betis on 19 April 2008, scoring against Atlético Madrid in a 1-3 win at the Vicente Calderon.
