Juan Manuel Asensi

Juan Manuel Asensi Ripoll (born 23 September 1949 at Alicante) is a former Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder. He began his career at Elche CF before joining FC Barcelona in 1970 for 80 million pesetas. During Asensi's time at the club, Barcelona won the La Liga title in 1974, two Copa del Reys in 1971 and 1978, and the 1979 European Cup Winners' Cup. He retired in 1981.

Asensi also represented Spain 41 times and scored 7 goals. He played in the 1978 FIFA World Cup and the 1980 UEFA European Football Championship.
