Juan José Carricondo Perez (born 4 May 1977 in Barcelona, Spain), usually known as Juanjo, is a professional footballer who currently plays for CE Premià in Tercera División - Group 5.
[edit] Playing career
Juanjo started his career at the famous Camp Nou Stadium, as a young player for Barcelona. He made his first team debut against Deportivo la Coruña at the Riazor stadium. He later moved to Edinburgh to play for Hearts, where he received his first taste of Scottish football. His spell at Hearts was very successful and he was a fans' favourite. He later followed his manager Jim Jefferies to England and Bradford City in the English First Division. He moved back to his country to play for Spanish second division club Real Jaén. John Robertson, then manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle offered him a return to Scotland in the summer of 2004.
Juanjo quickly made himself popular with the Inverness Caledonian Thistle fans. He was known as the Spanish wizard in their midfield, having both scored and created a large number of goals during the club's first Scottish Premier League season in 2004-05 adding a great deal of flair to the side's performances.
A ruptured achilles tendon injury received late in that season kept Juanjo from participating in Inverness's games in the early part of the following season. When he returned to fitness he expected to play a major part in the rest of the team's campaign. However, former player-manager Craig Brewster left the player out of favour. During the January transfer window the Spaniard was allowed to move to Hamilton Academical on loan for the rest of the season.
He left Scottish football at the end of that season and joined Granada CF in Spain.
Juanjo is currently training with Ross County with a view to having a trial to re-join Inverness Caledonian Thistle.[citation needed]
