Juan F. García

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Juan F. García was a merengue musician from the Dominican Republic. He was one of several merengue musicians who attempted to popularize the genre in the early 1900s, along with Juan Espínola and Julio Alberto Hernandez. Garcia was an educated musician who sought to bring merengue to upper-class dance floors, but met with resistance because of the lower-class nature of the music and the often vulgar content of merengue lyrics.
