Juan Carlos Arciniegas

Juan Carlos Arciniegas is the producer and a correspondent journalist for Escenario, a half-hour show broadcasted by CNN en Español (the Spanish language CNN), that covers the latest entertainment world news. He also works as movie critic on Ojo Crítico, a weekly survey show about upcoming films. Born in Bogotá, Arciniegas got his journalism degree at the Javerian University. He is bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English.
Arciniegas has been a special reporter for CNN en Español at the Academy Awards ceremony several times, and has also covered film festivals such as the Sundance Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival and the French Cannes Film Festival.
For Escenario, he has interviewed internationally renowned artists such as Sting, Shakira, Dido, 'N Sync and the Backstreet Boys. On Ojo Crítico, he has talked with Hollywood movie stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Hugh Grant, Matt Damon, Sir Ben Kingsley and long career filmmakers like Mira Nair, Spike Lee, plus the cast of Lord of the Rings.
Formerly, he was "news editor" for the CNN network. Before joining CNN en Español in 1997, he worked as "editing assistant" on the news agency Reuters America, at Miami. He was also television reporter and "international editor" at Q.A.P. News at Bogotá, covering diverse events in the United States and Latin America.
