[edit] Outdoor education

No problem. You're doing a great job on the articles.

Is the outward bound camp you worked at the same one that has been run by the Association for the Blind? I haven't been on one myself, but I've been on a camp with a similar concept for school. I just find the independence skills needed for staying away from home to be difficult, but I enjoy the challenge of outdoor activities, especially abseiling. I'm not generally afraid of heights. [edit] Canberra Geo-stub

The Canberra Geo-Stub when it was implemented was intended for use in both Canberra and the rest of the ACT to keep from needing two seperate categories/stub templates etc. At the same time we expanded the Canberra wikiproject to cover the whole ACT. You will notice the category the Canberra geo-stub adds thinsg to is Category:Australian Capital Territory geography stubs. --Martyman-(talk) 22:29, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

Ah, OK sorry, I miss-interpretted your question before. Generally if an article is long enough to cover the majority of the subject, generally more than a couple of parragraphs it can have the stub tag removed. I would think Tharwa has progressed far enough to have the stub tag removed. You will also want to add it to the appropriate Category which would be Category:Geography of the Australian Capital Territory. Actually I think it should have already been in that category even while still having the stub notice. I might go around and do a bit of a check that we have everything in the correct categories. --Martyman-(talk) 23:53, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

One aspect (of many) that the project is lacking that you might be able to provide some insight on is international termonology. Alternative education and its many aspects are known under slightly different terms in various geographic places. We would like these articles to be as inclusive as possible, at least for the "big three", AUS, UK, US. Do you have any insights or recommendations? There is one ongoing discussion at Talk:Homeschooling#U.S. bias. If you have specific remarks about homeschooling, leave them there. For more general input, go to WikiProject Alternative education. Hi again. Always happy to reassure that we are the genuine article.You are not the first to raise the issue.

Wikia is a company set up by the founders of Wikipedia on the basis of an advertising finance model you can see some of our responses to these concerns on this FAQ page

Our aim has been to work towards a site for professional, academics and users of our services. So in addition to generating original material eg[3] Our strategy has been to structure the site with WP articles with a view to upgrading them from general reader focus to a professional academic standard.

We have links with three clinical psychology courses here in the UK and we are looking to link their curricula to the wiki material to provide the trainees with all the information for their training. Nice job getting an image of him - getting public domain politicians is such a pain. I wish my camera hadn't broken soon after I moved to Canberra - else I'd have been able to get pictures of most of the territory pollies at one time or another.

I'm finally getting my head into wikimedia gear. Have spent far too long in wikispaces. Have started a page for Networked Learning in Wikiversity, as well as Facilitating Online. Intend to make them topic pages of the grand daddy of them all Teaching and Learning Online :)

Thanks for your feedback. I can see what you mean and I WAS advertising, and I'm sorry about that. The thing is that I am trying to promote experiential learning very strongly in schools in India, and was hoping for Indians to find the site.

[edit] Outdoor Education - the quiet zone

Hi James,

I see on your user page that 'outdoor education' is the very first topic in your list of Wikipedia interests. I also see that you are listed on the 'outdoor education' page along with Kurt Hahn and others. That is two good reasons why I would expect the 'outdoor education' page to be far better than it is.

For the last 38 days it looks as if I have been the ONLY person involved in editing or discussing the 'outdoor education' pages. You have kindly just sent me a message on my own user page, but I am still waiting and hoping that someone might contribute to the outdoor education discussion. 38 days of silence is a tad demotivating.

My first experiences of the way in which Wikipedia works has been very negative. Following your invitation to take part, I thought I'd suck it and see, but it feels as if the time I have spent on this project was wasted. Are you able to persuade me that my time has not been wasted?
