JS Clayden

J.S. Clayden (real name "Jon Clayden") was born in London, England. He moved to several towns in the United Kingdom, settling in Nottingham, England for a number of years before emigrating to Los Angeles, California in the United States.

J.S. is the singer/songwriter/programmer of UK alternative legends Pitchshifter, and founder of PSI Records. Pitchshifter is musical group that recorded some 8 studio albums for the likes of: MCA, Geffen, EMI, Sanctuary Records and seminal UK alternative label Earache Records. On studio recordings J.S. and Pitchshifter have collaborated with: Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys, John Stanier of Helmet, Dave Jerden (producer of Alice in Chains, The Offspring) and producer 'Machine'. Pitchshifter were awarded a Platinum Sales Award for their part in the Mortal Kombat: Annihilation soundtrack.

Pitchshifter toured and played in 25 countries with bands like: Metallica, Iggy Pop, Black Sabbath, The Offspring, Ministry, Incubus, Staind, Limp Bizkit, Deftones, Lost Prophets, Hundred Reasons, Quicksand, Gravity Kills, Stabbing Westward, Junkie XL, Static X, Gorilla Biscuits, No Means No, Fugazi . The band also played many festivals such as: Reading Festival, Big Day Out, Livid, Ozzfest, Phoenix Festival, 'Bulldog Bash', and appeared on the MTV show 'Fashionably Loud' in Jamaica with the likes of Usher and Limp Bizkit. J.S. has been an on-stage guest of Los Angeles based super-group Camp Freddy on a few occasions, covering Pretty Vacant by the Sex Pistols with Slash (Guns N' Roses), Billy Duffy (The Cult), Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction) and Hey Joe by Jimi Hendrix with Lemmy (Motörhead) and Matt Sorum (Velvet Revolver).

J.S.'s own music, the music of Pitchshifter and that of his record label PSI Records have placed many songs in movies, TV shows, commercials, video games such as: Annapolis, The Proposition, Narnia, Children Of Men, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Cat woman, Man On Fire, Paycheck, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, After, The Crow: Salvation, Brainscan, A Life Less Ordinary, Nip/Tuck, Punk'd, CSI: Miami, The Sopranos, Everwood, Gilmore Girls, Missing, The Ashlee Simpson Show, The Closer, Teen Titans, Video Games Awards, WWE Experience, The Early Show, Gravity Vs. X-Games, Crime Scene Investigation, Angel, Starsearch, MTV Video Awards, Test Dive 5, Twisted Metal III, SX Superstar, Rallisport Challenge II, Full Auto, Madden NFL 06, World Rally Championship: Rally Evolved, Car Wars, Volkswagen "Vortex" Bug.

In print J.S. has appeared twice on the cover of Kerrang! magazine as well as the covers of Rock Sound Magazine, Metal Hammer Magazine, Terrorizer Magazine and skate aficionado mag Big Cheese Magazine. JS was also a guest columnist for [[Metal Hammer| Metal Hammer Magazinefor a year. On-Air JS has done interviews with stations all over the world from the UK and Europe to America, Japan and Australia.

Although fan rumors abound on the Pitchshifter website that J.S. will once again write new material for Pitchshifter, he has not made public reference to this in any recent interviews (the most recent of which was a live on-air interview for 'Total Rock Radio' on 11/07/06). J.S. is currently now working for the Los Angeles Recording School working in the Career Development Department. [June 2007]
