Thanks, maveric. Hopefully your message isn't here because I hosed up an entry! ;)

I am also working on a TWiki web, http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/ImcSacramento, and the differnces between this wiki and that one are a bit jarring. (I only started working with wikis about a week ago, and I am coming to the conclusion that I should probably allow plenty of time for "context switching" between the different implementations!) Welcome to Wikipedia!

I'm only partway through it, but there's an article in _Science_ (not online, as far as I know) trying to analyze what makes suicide bombers and how to prevent it. One thing the author points out is that this is not unique to Islam--there's discussion of the kamikazes as well. In other words, I think there are at least two questions you're looking at: why are some people so anti-US or anti-Western? and Why do those people consider suicide a viable and appealing tactic? Here's the citation you asked for: Last week's issue: "Genesis of Suicide Terrorism" by Scott Atran, Science 299, pp 1534-1539.

[edit] Logo problem

Hi, I saw your massage to Mav. There was a problem with the logo, but it's been fixed now and the page protected so that (hopefully) it won't happen again. If you are still seeing the vandalised logo that's a cached copy and you should be able to clear it by clearing your cache and/or forcing a refresh. Regards -- sannse (talk) 17:30, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)

As far as I know it was only discussed on Image talk:Wiki.PNG and Image talk:Wiki.png (briefly) and on IRC. The incident seems to have been thankfully brief and not noticed by most. -- sannse (talk) 19:13, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Apology

Earlier today I was trying to sign on under the wrong userid, and I guess I reset your password. Sorry about that. (I would rather they merely send the current password to the registered email account - that would not be destructive.) Jrvz 20:05, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
