Tory Gasaway (born December 16, 1979 in Galveston, Texas) is an American rapper, better known as 40 Glocc. He is currently signed to Infamous Records/G-Unit Records.

[edit] Before His Mother
Tory Gasaway was born in Galveston Texas on December 16, 1979. Not knowing his mother, nor his little sister, until he was 8; he was raised, along with 14 other children, by his grandparents in Beaumont. During the eight years, Tory only knew his mother and sister from the photos he was shown. The only thing he knew about them was that they lived in California, and, as his grandmother said, they were coming to get him one day.

His mother did in fact come for him, and they moved to the MacArthur Park area of Downtown Los Angeles. He was glad to be living with his sister and mother. After living together, they later moved to an area of Colton City known as "The Zoo". It was when they moved here, that his problems at home arose. He and his mother began to not get along at all. He felt she didn't care about what happened to him in his life. But he felt that his friends dide care; so he began spending all his time with them. His friends, though, were members of the Colton City Crips. Once he became 13 years old, after getting deeper and deeper into the gang lifestyle, he left home for good. During this time, he would often sleep in friends' cars, or in front of grocery store.
He began to look at other gang bangers and drug dealers as father figures. He learned to survive by looking up to them, he also began to live more by their rules and their codes, while earning the rewards that come with that lifestyle. While living the "gang life", he ended up being shot several times, by the police, causing him to end up in a wheelchair for many months.

While all of this was happening in the young man's life, he had a dream, which was also a talent he had; rapping. He was able to tell vivid stories, of the things he experienced, through his raps. He found people could relate to this stories. He began to rap with friends, and even by himself, and by 1997, his group, the "Zoo Crew", (which consisted of K-9, Natural Born, and 40 Glocc himself), were recording and promoting their first album, "Migrate, Adapt or Die", produced by Tony and Julio G. The album, which became an underground hit, helped 40 get recognized as a "hidden talent" from the streets. Not long after, he began to be an important part of the west coast scene, appearing with many of his peers.

Not long after appearing in many underground recordings, his friend and manager, Storm, negotiated a deal with Empire Music Werks, who, at the time, were being distributed by BMG. It was through this deal, he recorded and released his first solo effort, "The Jackal", which featured such guests as, Bad Azz, Ras Kass, Tray Dee; and such producers as Dr. Dre, Battle Cat, and Protégé. It was after this album that he decided to part ways with Empire Music.
It was at this time, that manager Storm's other act, Mobb Deep, had been making a lot of noise with their signature sound, while being signed to Jive. They began to try to find a deal for their friend. Jive was the first thought, but negotiations went nowhere, so Storm began shopping 40 Glocc to other labels. Another set-back, was the fact that the west coast had lost it's grasp on the rap industry, and it seemed no one wanted to take a chance on 40. Another set-back, Jive dropping Mobb Deep, seemed to worsen conditions.
Mobb Deep was then signed to G-Unit, and 40 tagged along for the ride. 40 was then signed to Mobb Deep's imprint, Infamous Records, under G-Unit Records/Interscope.

40 is still working with such legends as Dr. Dre, Alchemist, Havoc, and continues to write raps that tell stories that people can relate to. His is currently working on an untitled album. He hopes to get his own label, Zoo Life, started. He is working on a national tour with Mobb Deep.
