[edit] Sources

One minor source for this article is http://www.eai.cam.ac.uk/fifty_years.pdf

I am unable to find the source for the statement that she received an award from the Japanese government.

Have added information on the Yamagata Banto prize from a Japanese pdf on the web (http://72.14.253.104/search?q=cache:otcjxSZHGTcJ:www.pref.osaka.jp/bunka/banto/jusyo/sankosiryo.pdf+ジョイス アクロイド&hl=ja&ct=clnk&cd=3&gl=jp)

This source gives Showa 58 as the year that Ackroyd received the prize. That should be 1983. However, the Wikipedia page on Donald Keene indicates that he received the prize in 1983. The Japanese pdf gives the year as Showa 57. It would be best if this could be harmonised somehow.

This site (http://seibundo-pb.co.jp/mybooks/ISBN4-7924-2350-3.html) gives the year 1982 as the starting year for the prize. Since Keene was the first prize-winner, this seems like the correct date.
