Joyful Noise Recordings is an independent record label from Indianapolis, Indiana which was founded in 2003. The label originally began in Bloomington Indiana, founded by Karl Hofstetter, who also played drums on the label's first release, Melk the g6-49’s s/t album. In recent years, the label has grown to release albums from Hofstetter's other groups: the indie/math-rock group Abner Trio, and the prog-art-metal group LAFCADIO; as well as Evansville, IN group Stationary Odyssey, Michigan duo Man at Arms, California's Receptor Sight, and others.
Joyful Noise has also co-released albums with Long Beach's avant hip-hop/ jazz label Sounds Are Active, and Grand Rapids based indie-rock label Friction Records. In late 2005 the label signed with NAIL Distribution, which brought the releases into the national spotlight. In 2007 the label has added to its roster the Indianapolis band Grampall Jookabox and Detroit based Child Bite.
