Jovan Šajnović

Jovan Šajnović (Belgrade, 1924–2004) was a renowned Yugoslavian conductor.

He graduated from the University of Zagreb Academy of Music, Croatia, SFRY, where he studied conducting, composition, and piano. While there, he studied with professors F. Zaun, S. Šulek and I. Maček.

Šajnović was the conductor of the Zagreb Opera, the National Theatre in Belgrade and the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra.
He was esteemed especially as an interpreter of the operas of Mozart, Beethoven, Verdi, Bizet, Wagner, R. Strauss, Smetana and Devčić. He conducted and recorded many compositions with Yugoslav and foreign orchestras.

Šajnović was a professor of opera studio at the University of Zagreb Academy of Music, a professor of conducting at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade and a professor of conducting, orchestration and aesthetics at the University of Priština Faculty of Arts .
