The Journal of Semitic Studies, in bibliographies typically abbreviated JSS, is an academic journal that was established in 1955[1] and has been issued twice a year ever since.
From the first issue in 1955 onwards, the journal has included papers on the research of the modern as well as the ancient Near East. The journal maintains a special focus on Semitic languages and the corresponding literatures, and reviews are one of the journal's distinguishing features.
The present editorial committee includes P. S. Alexander, G. J. Brooke, A. Christmann, J. F. Healey and P. C. Sadgrove.
