[edit] Company Raj
Thanks for the great edits on Company rule in India. Yes, the history part was kind of shabby, I thought a number of times about fixing it, but somehow those thoughts didn't lead to action. As for Company Raj, it actually is (now) used in the history books, at least some. So, if you don't mind, I'll make a few quick corrections in the lead (with references, of course). - Hi again. I am making a few other changes in the lead. I know that the Wikipedia article is Honourable East India Company, but in the history books no one uses that term, unless they are being sardonic. Also, I've changed some of the language, partly to be more precise, and partly to avoid controversy. For example, the "Indian Empire" wasn't really created until 1872, when Queen Victoria (as a result of Disraeli's finagling, and much to Gladstone's chagrin) became the Empress of India. I've changed "dominated," mainly to avoid controversy. I hope you don't mind. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 21:01, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- Just saw yr post. Have to run. Will get back later. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 21:46, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- I think you have a point. Somehow, "dominating" doesn't sound like the right word though. Let me think about it some more. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 22:23, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
