Sanchez paints everyday life, customs, and popular myths from Andean life in Peru.[1] "Yo me siento andino, pienso como andino y pinto como andino. Es algo que no puedo evitar," says Sanchez.[1] "Más que un asunto de lealtad a mis orígenes, mi pintura es una forma de expresar este mundo andino que no es pasado, que está vivo y avanza, conquistando cada vez más espacios, y que no es sólo inca y preínca, sino pluricultural y mestizo."[1]
