Talk:Josette Normandeau

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm not sure why this page has been nominated for Speedy Deletion. Ms. Normandeau is a noted martial artist and television producer. In addition, she is the star of a televised documentary series on martial arts, called Deadly Arts. Her programs are widely broadcast on many channels, including the Discovery Channel Network on which Deadly Arts is currently being broadcast (on the FitTV channel). I don't have enough biographical information on her to make the article anything more than a stub right now, but I've certainly read Wikipedia biographies on people who are far less notable. She's not the most famous person in the world, but she is a well known martial artist and successful television producers whose programs are broadcast and seen throughout the world. As I stated, there are far less notable people who have Wikipedia pages. I've seen Wikipedia pages on race car drivers who don't have a ride currently and only had one for a short while; people of whom even fans of the sport have never heard. Just because I don't have enough biographical information to make the article more than a stub for the time being, that doesn't mean that the subject isn't sufficiently notable for her own Wikipedia page. Looking at the criteria for Notability:

"A topic is presumed to be notable if it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject."

Ms. Normandeau seems to meet those criteria, as she has received significant coverage in sources that meet the criteria for independent reliability.

[edit] Agree with the article not being deleted

I agree as well that the article should not eb deleeted. Unless you have seen th show Deadly Arts, you will have never of heard of Josette Normandeau. I am a martist artist and just by chance last years when channel surfing, I came upon the the show Deadly Arts. When I tried to find information on her, mostly all i cou found reviews on her book, that the show is based on. And a few Canadian articles about her. The Wikipedia article is basically bring her much more into the mainstream.
