Talk:Joseph Nathan Kane
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Joseph Nathan Kane is my personal favorite centenarian and is held in high regard by my cousin and I. Hopefully the article I've written for Wikipedia about Mr. Kane will finally do him justice. At least The New York Times and myself gave him the ample credit he justly deserves. A follow up to this note would be greatly appreciated. --Longevitymonger
He often had to climb two flights of stairs after coming home from a fact finding mission -- This seems like a non sequitur to me. What does one have to do with the other? Did he not climb the two flights of stairs during his daily life, or was there something on the third story that he only visited after fact finding? -- Zoe
Was pleasantly surprised when I found out he was still alive around September of 2001. His obsession with detail and minute facts seems to have set a standard. -- Katagelophobia
If you've either read or have seen his obituary (courtesy of the New York Times)), Kane resided in New York City, and his apartment's elevator only went up to the 15th floor, but Kane lived on the 17th, and he had to climb the remaining two flights to get into his apartment. Don't forget, he was getting older and eventually broke his hip at age 97 because of this. Overall, concentrating on the miniscule fact that he had to climb two flights of stairs everytime he went fact finding is quite silly, what matters is that people like myself and Katagelophobia admire Kane for his works dealing with historical minutae, not just his age. Either way, I'm glad to see that some has read about him and actually has a question pertaining to what was written. A reply to this article would be appreciated. Thanks! Longevitymonger
