José van Dam is a celebrated opera singer, but I don't think the use of the the phrase 'extraordinary performances' ('has won many international awards for his extraordinary performances both on stage and in recordings') is neutral.

Also, 'recognizing him as one of the finest classical singers who ever lived' is subjective. If this phrase was included in the citation with the award mentioned, or if someone expressed that opinion, it should be made clear where and by whom the view was expressed. Propose deleting 'extraordinary' and 'recognizing him as one of the finest classical singers who ever lived' Ioan_Dyfrig 16:09, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
