From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation is a philanthropist foundation founded in 1930 by Kate Macy Ladd (1863-1945) in honor of her father, who died at a young age. Since the mid-1960’s the Foundation has focused its resources specifically on improving the education of health professionals, particularly physicians.[1] The president of the Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation is George E. Thibault, M.D.
The four priorities of the Macy foundation are:[2]
- Projects to improve medical and health professional education in the context of the changing health care system;
- Projects that will increase diversity among health care professionals;
- Projects that demonstrate or encourage ways to increase teamwork between and among health care professionals; and
- Educational strategies to increase care for underserved populations.
