Joshua Andrews

Joshua Andrews is a serial killer accused of killing several people in the Virginia and New York areas. Andrews is also behind several burglaries including one in Stafford, Virginia, and is believed to be involved in drug dealing [1].

[edit] Early years

In April 1982, Andrews’ father, Maurice, was accused of murdering two men during the robbing of a jewelry store in Beaumont, Texas. At the time, Joshua Andrews was only two months old. He and his brother, Roman Martin, visited their father on death row until he was stabbed to death by an inmate in April 1995.[1]

When he was eight years old, Joshua Andrews suffered third-degree burns on his face when his neighbor threw gasoline on him and lit a match. Not only was his face permanently scarred, but his vocal cords were severely damaged and one of his ears had to be medically rebuilt. Other children teased him about the scars, and he also earned several nicknames including “crispy critter” and “scarface”.[1]

Andrews’ criminal record began in 1995 in Colorado when he was sentenced to two years probation after an attempted aggravated robbery in Arapahoe County, Colorado. At the time he was 12 years old. Andrews continued to fight and remained active in gang activities. His mother, Imani Taymullah, turned him into the police on several occasions.[1]

[edit] Murders

In early 2005, Imani Taymullah moved to Virginia with a fourth husband, leaving Joshua Andrews and Roman Martin in Colorado. One month later, Martin and his 15-year-old girlfriend, Krisunda Jeanne Temple were found dead in their Aurora, Colorado home. They both had suffered eight gun shots, two of which had been fired twice in Temple’s face.[1]

Arapahoe County prosecutors claimed Andrews had been fighting with Martin for weeks. Public defenders said the couple were involved in a drive by shooting of a rival gang, and a gang member had killed Martin and his girlfriend. Andrews proclaimed his innocence and his mother stood by him, thus leading to his acquittal in a court case held in July 2001. Aurora police Detective Chuck Mehl said he and fellow investigators still worried about Andrews' potential for violence.[1]
