[edit] High school
Wright led Proctor High School to a 20-2 record his senior year, averaging 33.3 points, 5.2 assists and 3.6 steals a game. He was twice named an All-State selection by the New York State Sportswriters Association. Wright was the 21st overall recruit according to Scout.com and was ninth among point guards in his recruiting class. [1]
[edit] College
Wright appeared in 19 games his freshman year and averaged 1.4 points and 1.7 assists, including a then-career high five points against Northern Colorado.
As a sophomore, Wright appeared in 31 games, averaging 4.3 points and 1.6 assists per game. With Gerry McNamara playing limited minutes against Texas A&M in the first round of the NCAA tournament, Wright scored 12 points and handed out two assists.
Wright became Syracuse's starting point guard in his junior year. He started the first 27 games of the season and finished second on the team in assists. Following a three-game absence because of the flu, Wright lost his starting spot in the lineup to Eric Devendorf, and would not play more than 16 minutes the rest of the year. Wright finished the season averaing 6.6 points and 3.8 assists per game. [2]
Wright was the team's lone senior in the 2007-08 season, but appeared in just four of the team's first 10 games.[3] He played just 19 minutes, and lost his starting role to freshman Jonny Flynn. Although his initial absence was initially attributed to an injury and then illness, it was speculated that Wright was not really hurt, but left the team as a result of a clash with head coach Jim Boeheim.[4] On December 15, 2007 Boeheim confirmed that Wright had quit.[5]
