Josephine Hopper (1883 - March 6, 1968) was an artist and the wife of Edward Hopper—-one of the best known post-World War II American realist painters.
She is depicted in most of his paintings after their marriage because she did not want him painting other female models.
His most moving painting of her is Two Comedians (1963) which was his last painting. It portrays himself and Josephine Hopper on-stage about to take their last bow before disappearing into the dark expanse behind them.
