From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joseph Needham (January 9, 1862August 30, 1889) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman who played for Derbyshire during the 1883 season. Needham was born in Flagg and died at the age of 27 in Taddington.

During the single first-class game in which he played, Needham is shown as being first in the Derbyshire batting lineup and yet not out for just six runs in the second innings, for a team total score of 118, implying that he retired hurt early in the game but returned later for another attempt at bat.
