Joseph Mencia (born Joaquín Cano in 1953 in Honduras) is the brother of comedian Carlos Mencia; he regularly appears on the show Mind of Mencia, and is known for his Honduran persona, and thick accent.[1]
Joseph was born in Honduras. He came to the United States at the age of eighteen and obtained his GED at Garfield High Adult School in East Los Angeles, and then began working as a full time laborer
On Mind of Mencia, Joseph has had many roles, despite his lack of acting experience, though he is currently uncredited at the show's Internet Movie Database page.[2] Some have included Barato, a parody of Borat, characters in Carlos Mencia's parody music videos, and mock trailers for parody film, and interviewing Tony Hawk.
Recently, Mencia put a lease on a house in the back country of Malibu, California. He is also a skilled carpenter and mason, having worked on dozens of houses in the southern California area.[citation needed]
Recently, Joseph, Brad Williams, and Carlos Mencia made a video of their own version of the song "Crank That".
[edit] Views on illegal immigration
Mencia demonstrated support for Illegal immigrants, by leading a local immigrant rally in Veron, California and in San Jose, California. He supports illegal immigration and said in an interview with Telemundo: "This country was born on the blood and sweat of immigrants, if it wasn't for immigrants like us, there would have never been such an economy boom as there was in the beginning of the last decade and multicultural county as there is today, I believe that the White American people do not have a problem with millions of Irish and European immigrants coming into the United States but for some reason they seem to have a problem with us Latinos." He is also become a well known philanthropist among the Latino community, donating time and money to local Hispanic organizations.[citation needed]
