Joseph Gelineau

Joseph Gelineau (born October 31, 1920, Champ-sur-Layon, Maine-et-Loire) is a French Catholic Jesuit priest and composer, mainly of modern Christian liturgical music.
Having entered the Society of Jesus in 1941, Gelineau studied theology at a Catholic seminary in Lyon and music in Paris.
Heavily influenced by Gregorian chant, Gelineau has composed numerous chants for the ecumenical French Taizé Community, and a set of psalmody which is used worldwide. He is associated with the Institut Catholique in Paris.
