Joseph Estabrook Elementary School
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Joseph Estabrook Elementary School is an elementary school in Lexington, Massachusetts. It has grades kindergarten through 5th grade. The school is named for Joseph Estabrook (1669–1733), the first schoolteacher in Lexington.
The school garnered nationwide notoriety in 2005 from the David Parker controversy, concerning a conservative couple (David and Tonia Parker) who did not wish their young child to be exposed to information about non-traditional families. The bulk of the legality of the controversy revolved around whether a book depicting families with homosexual parents was de facto sexual education.
