Joseph Edwin Klein Jr. was selected as a righthanded pitcher in the 41st round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Amateur Player Draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, California.
Klein played 1st base and pitched for Patuxent High School in Lusby, Maryland and is the first player drafted from Patuxent High School by a professional league.
He has been clocked on the JUGS gun as high as 92 mph on his fourseam fastball, throws his curve between 73 and 76 mph, also throws a change up 78 mph, slider 81 mph, two seam fastball 86 mph, and splitter at 84 mph.
