[edit] Personal life
Bruce has a girlfriend and a son who also goes by the name Joseph Bruce. He strongly believes in the dark carnival.[1] In 2007, his daughter, Ruby, was born. He is also known to be very humerous, and outgoing, as seen in his tour bus videos.
Over the years, Bruce has also had some run-ins with the law. In 2001, he was arrested following a gig in Columbia, Missouri for assaulting a radio DJ in St. Louis, Missouri.[2][3] He was charged with two counts of assault, released on bail and received a suspended sentence.[4]
He was arrested after clubbing an audience member with his microphone in late 1997, and soon after the incident, the group's tour bus ran off the road, leaving J with a concussion.
He along with Shaggy 2 Dope, Twiztid and their entourage were arrested following brawl at a Waffle House in Indiana in 1998. The incident occurred when a customer verbally harassed and insulted the group and others therefore leading into the resulted brawl. He along with Shaggy 2 Dope, Myzery, Twiztid and others eventually pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct charges.[5][6] The charges were dismissed so they could perform later that night.
[edit] Wrestling career
Bruce started off backyard wrestling alongside his friends Joseph Utsler and "The Rude Boy" Rudy Hill during the 1980s. By 1989, Bruce had started training to become professional wrestler. He worked as an independent wrestler under the moniker Dropkick Daniels and Corporal Darrell Daniels. His first match ever was working for Al Snow, and it was also the same night where Rob Van Dam and Terry Brunk (Sabu) had their first matches.
Bruce then went on to wrestle in the WWF, ECW, and a long stint in WCW with Shaggy 2 Dope, Vampiro and Raven as The Dead Pool. After WCW, he and Shaggy created Juggalo Championshit Wrestling (now known as Juggalo Championship Wrestling), which was a huge success with "juggalos" (ICP's fan base), and the backyard wrestling fan base. Bruce remains friends with many wrestlers including Sabu, RVD, and Vampiro.

[edit] Solo releases
In 2003, Bruce released a solo album, The Wizard of the Hood, inspired by a song of the same name from Insane Clown Posse's first Joker's Card album, Carnival of Carnage. Wizard of the Hood is an urban spin to the classic tale of The Wizard of Oz in which Violent J is trying to get back to Detroit, The Scarecrow (Monoxide of Twiztid) needs "homies to smoke with", the Tin Man (Jamie Madrox of Twiztid) needs a gun, and The Lion (Blaze Ya Dead Homie) is looking for female lion/human hybrids to copulate with. The album also features Shaggy 2 Dope as the Wizard and Anybody Killa as the Gatekeeper.
In a 2007 interview with Faygoluvers.net Violent J said he would be working on another solo album to be released in 2008.
