Joseph B. Varnum, Jr.

Joseph Bradley Varnum (June 9, 1818 Washington, D.C. - December 31, 1874 Astoria, Queens, then Long Island City, now in Queens, New York City) was an American lawyer and politician.

He was a grandson of Joseph Bradley Varnum. He graduated from Yale College in 1838, and was admitted to the bar in 1849.

He was a Whig and later Republican member from New York County of the New York State Assembly in 1849, 1851 and 1857, and was chosen Speaker in June 1851, when Henry Jarvis Raymond, the Speaker elected at the beginning of the legislative year, did not attend the special meeting.

At one time he was a member of the Common Council of New York City.
