Joseph Allegro

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joseph Allegro a.k.a. "Joey" (June 26, 1909 Brownsville, Brooklyn- April 1995 Maspeth, Queens) was an Italian-American associate of the New York Lucchese crime family who worked in a crew under caporegime Paul Vario.

[edit] Biography

In the 1950's and 1960's, Joseph Allegro performed hijackings for James "Jimmy the Gent" Burke and gangland executions for Paul Vario. Allegro was a close friend of fellow "stick-up men" Tommy "Two Gun" DeSimone and Stanley Diamond. Allegro was paid a fixed rate for each hijacking, usually a flat several thousand dollars just for shoving a gun in the truck driver's face. He did not receive any percentage of the actual hijacked goods.
