The José Angel Lamas Municipality is one of the 18 municipalities (municipios) that makes up the Venezuelan state of Aragua and, according to a 2007 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, the municipality has a population of 33,513.[1] The town of Santa Cruz is the shire town of the José Angel Lamas Municipality.[2]

The José Angel Lamas Municipality, according to a 2007 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, has a population of 33,513 (up from 28,263 in 2000). This amounts to 2% of the state's population.[3] The municipality's population density is 2,702.7 people per square mile (1,675.65/km²).[4]

The mayor of the José Angel Lamas Municipality is Nancy López, re-elected on October 31, 2004 with 31% of the vote.[5][6] The municipality contains one parish; Capital José Angel Lamas.[7]
