José Aílton da Silva or simply Aílton (born September 8, 1977 in Cajueiro), is a Brazilian left-sided attacking midfielder for Universidad Católica in the Primera División Chilena. He also holds Mexican passport.

[edit] Early career in Brazil
His playing career started in 1997 at Palmeiras, then in 1998 he moved to Etti Jundiaí-SP.

In 1999 he was signed by Venezuela's Deportivo Italia, where he was able to succeed, eventually winning the Venezuelan league.
[edit] Arriving in Mexico
In 1999 he was signed by CF Atlas, starting then his well-succeeded Mexican career. He stayed at this club until 2000, and signed to Club Leon, a mexican second division club.
[edit] From Mexico to Italy
In 2001 he moved to A.S. Bari,in Italy, but failed to succeed, quickly returning to Mexico, where he joined to Pumas.

In his return to Mexico at Pumas his skills helped the club win 1 Mexican League titles (including: Apertura and Clausura of the same year), in 2004, and helped Pumas to win Santiago Bernabéu Trophy. In 2006 he helped San Luis to have their best position in the table of Clausura.

In 2007 he was signed by Brazilian club Sport Club Corinthians Paulista.
