[edit] Introduction

My name is Jordie Stuart Mark Zoltan Bodlay and was born on the 23rd June 1986 in Sydney, Australia. I have lived in Sydney all my life, however have moved once within the Sydney area. I love Sydney and I believe it is the best city in the world, something which is confirmed by many awards: Sydney named world's best city, Sydney again ranked world's best cityetc etc etc... you get the picture :)

[edit] Quick Info

  • My interests include computers (games, graphics, programming and websites), politics and history (Mostly modern history, my high school ancient history class somewhat turned me off the subject).
  • I am an Australian citizen.
  • I am a Catholic Chrisitan, although I can't say I actually do much besides wear a chain to maintain this.
  • I attended 3 schools: Kenthurst Primary School (K-1) '92-'93, St. Madeleine's Primary School '94-'98, Marian College '99-'04.
  • I am a real movie buff, I will see almost any movie with a few exceptions. I see an average of 44 movies a year (at the theatres, not including home movies, this is counting movie ticket stubs).
  • In 1995 I gained the name Mark from my confirmation service.
  • I have just finished my HSC Exams and am awaiting my results to see if I can get into the university course that I want.
  • In 2001 I was invited to Boston, USA (all expenses paid) as part of a fan website based media gathering at Stainless Steel Studios for the Real-Time Strategy game Empire Earth. (For the now dead eenc.net... It was good in tis day.)
  • In 2004 I unsuccessfully contested the Australian Federal Election (at age 18, only just made it!).
  • In 2007 I'm running in the NSW State Election as an Independent Candidate for the Legislative Council (Upper House). I've got a campaign site set up at www.votejordie.com.

[edit] My Name

  • Jordie, which can also be spelt Geordie, is the Scottish version of George, meaning "farmer".
  • Stuart was the name that my mother's doctor at the time of my birth wanted for his own son. Strangely enough I was born on his birthday, and I took him away from his birthday dinner to be born.
  • Mark was an additional name given to me at my confirmation service when I was around 8 or 9 years old. This was to originally be my name as the day I was born Mars was very visible near the moon.
  • Zoltan is my fathers name. He was born in Germany (although he was Hungarian), and came to Australia when he was around 4 years old.
  • Bodlay, originally Bodolai, is Hungarian and of course my family name.

[edit] Schools

During my life I have attended 3 schools:

  • Kindergarten to year 1 was at Kenthurst Primary School (1992-1993)
  • The rest of my primary school education was at St. Madeleine's Primary School (years 2-6, 1994-1998)
  • My entire high school education was at Marian College (1999-2004)

In years 9 and 10 at high school my electives were commerce and computing studies. In years 11 and 12 my subject chioces were: Standard English, Mathematics, Studies of Religion 2 unit, Business Studies, Ancient History and Software Design and Development. (I wish I had done legal studies instead of Ancient History).

[edit] Hobbies and Interests

[edit] Computers

I love most things to do with computers. I think the technology is amazing, and what can be done with them is also increadible. I mostly deal with websites, both graphics and programming (HTML, XHTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, MySQL, ASP).

However, I am also interested in hardware, so here are my specs:

  • Pentium 4 2.4Ghz Hyper-Threading Enabled
  • 1024MB DDR RAM
  • 4 Hard Drives; 40GB, 120GB, 200GB, 300GB(And nearly full!)
  • Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
  • Creative Audigy 2 ZS
  • 24" LCD Dell Montior
  • 8x DVD Burner + additional DVD read-only drive

[edit] Politics

I am also interested in politics. At the moment I am thinking this is what I will eventually get into, but I'm not sure whether it will be Australian or International politics.

I am fascinated by Australian politics, and as soons as I was 18 I ran in the 2004 federal elections (Results for my area here). The area I ran in was Mitchell, the second safest Liberal seat in Australia. Although I didn't run to win, I ran just for the hell of it. I ended up getting 476 votes out of a total of 95,065 people. I think that is a good job for no advertising what-so-ever. I ran as an Independent as I don't think any party would have sponsored me, and there is also the part where I don't belong to any party. I just really don't like any of the parties in Australia. I guess I'd have to be a "centrist", and so I lean towards both Liberal and Labor, depending on what the issue and policies are. However, I will have to make a decision if I ever want to become Prime Minister or Australia's first President ;)

This year (2007) I am contesting the NSW State Election. You can read my campaign site at [1]. Later in the year I'll also have my second go at the Federal Scene.

[edit] Languages

I love languages, although I can only fluently speak English, I can speak a little bit of Spanish.

[edit] History

I am a history buff, although more modern rather than ancient history. I used to be faciniated by ancient, until I took Ancient history in high school. I think the writing the endless amount of essays using quotes and evidence from Tacitus, Xenophon, Cassius Dio, Plutarch etc. in addition to modern sources really put me off.

So I'm really more interested in modern history, such as the World Wars, the rise of Nation-States and the cold-war. I guess this really goes with my interest in politics.

[edit] My Wikipedia Contributions

I'm a true-blue Aussie, so my contributions to Wikipedia are mostly to do with Australia. So far it is just making sure facts are correct, flags look nice and are accurate etc. I haven't written my own full article yet, but I will sometime. Any other contribution I make will reflect my interests (computers, politics, country info/facts, languages).

[edit] My Business

I run my own website design business called Revolution Technology. (Note: Not running any longer)
