[edit] Role?
Does anyone know if he was also the game programmer for any of these games? I think he'd have to be for Prince of Persia in order to get such realistic movements, but I haven't been able to find any definate evidence off the Internet. —Frecklefoot 17:26, Apr 15, 2004 (UTC)
- Someplace I have a book that contains an interview with Mechner. In it he talks about coding Prince of Persia in the loft of some warehouse. I'll dig it up. --Foofy 05:05, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Just before the release of Prince of Persia 3D, the two older Prince of Persia games were released again on a CD. This CD contained the Prince of Persia and Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame games (both for the PC, as well as for the Mac) and a very entertaining QuickTime movie on the making of Prince of Persia 3D. Jordan Mechner features in this CD and informs us in person that he filmed his younger brother David running, jumping, climbing, etc., the footage of which he used to animate the Prince (in PoP and PoP: The Shadow and the Flame). In fact, the music for the two games were composed by Jordan's dad Francis Mechner, as the Game Credits show! Surely this is comprehensive proof of his personal involvement with the development of both games? And hey, Jordan did Karateka while he was at university! And I mean as the Programmer!
Jordan was not involved in the coding of Prince of Persia 3D: a team of professionals (whom we get to see in the QuickTime Movie) were. Its such a shame that PoP 3D did not do too well commercially.
