Talk:Jordan Manners

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Articles for deletion This article was nominated for deletion on 31 May 2007. The result of the discussion was merge and redirect to an article about the shootings.

Nevertheless, Wikipedia still has standards, and those standards must be met for new articles. Any editors from Toronto want to collaborate on a decent article? Scientz 17:43, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Editors, please do not delete this page. The media attention surrounding this matter has been enormous, and if Jane Creba merits a page in this encyclopedia, than Jordan Manners does as well. Scientz 11:23, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Just because there is one person with an article does not mean another article is valid. See here. And the AfD notice may not be removed until the AfD is complete. This is Wikipedia policy. Use good, policy-based arguments at the AfD discussion to ensure the article is kept. Although I nominated the page for deletion originally, I am now tending toward keeping it. I argue the opposite. One would have to have access to the Toronto media to know, but the fact that there is an article on Jane Creba with no nomination for deletion is a big deal. The Toronto media has been claiming that there is racism inherent in the asymmetrical and disproportionate interest paid to death of Jane, a 15 year old white girl, as opposed to the death of Jordan, a 15 year old black boy. I tend to agree. Both are notable, and both are news. Scientz 17:43, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
I had a look at the Creba article, and it's really about the shooting, not the victim. It should probably have a name change. Flyguy649talkcontribs 03:02, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
