Jorge Mendonça

Jorge Pinto Mendonça, best known as Jorge Mendonça (born in Silva Jardim, June 6 de 1954 – died in Campinas, February 17, 2006) was a Brazilian footballer most famous during 1970s and 1980s, playing in a striker role. He scored 375 goals during his career (1971–1990). With Brazilian team he played 6 games without scoring any goals (he was Zico reserve in 1978 FIFA World Cup). He won the São Paulo State Championship in 1976 and was the top goalscorer in the same tournament in 1981. After he retired he suffered of most problems financiary and familiar. In his last year he directed a project hospital children of Guarani. He died at 51 years old from a heart attack.
